- Evan Diacou, son of Bessie and Nickolas Diacou, Palatine, has been initiated into Beta Theta Pi by the colony at Northwestern University, Evanston. He is a graduate of William Fremd High School. Beta Theta Pi is dedicated to scholarship, brotherhood and community service. The Northwestern colony of Beta Theta Pi was founded in 1873.

- Corinne Anne Kozak of Barrington, a student at Illinois State University, Normal, was recognized for her scholarship by being included in the dean's list for the Spring semester that ended May 11.
