District 75 to ask for more cash: Residents in Mundelein Elementary District 75 will decide the financial future of their schools in March when they vote on a requested 47-cent tax-rate increase. The school board has approved the request despite the failure of an identical referendum this past April.
Educators say more cash is needed for the education fund, which covers everything from books to teacher salaries. Without the extra funding, the district might not be able to balance its budget starting in the 2004-05 term, officials have said. A 47-cent rate increase would mean the owner of a typical house valued at $200,000 would pay about $297 more in taxes to the district.
