In addition to the McCormick House, the Elmhurst Art Museum boasts a permanent collection that includes works by Marc Chagall, Victory Vasarely, Jan Miller and Abbott Pattison. The museum's current exhibitions include "Beyond the Surface," featuring works by Chicago sculptors Barbara Cooper and Toby Zallman and continuing through May 12.
Both artists work in layers. Cooper uses scraps of wood veneer, which began as a tree and was milled into a prefab form, and fashions them back into a seemingly organic form. Creating from the inside out, Zallman constructs her sculptures by wrapping, weaving and intertwining divergent materials. The exhibition "15/15," continuing through May 5, showcases individual works by instructors from the printmaking department...
