- Jonathan Lehman of Libertyville was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Academy Hall of Fame at Bradley University in Peoria. Lehman is a biology major. - Mark A. Smith, son of Kelley and Launa Smith of Long Grove, received the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Serope Kalpakjian Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award.

Smith graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1992 and a master's degree in mechanical engineering in 1994. Currently, he is senior project engineer at General Motors in Warren, Mich.
