Byline: Mike Considine Daily Herald Sports Writer Running in the oldest national high school meet is becoming a Geneva tradition. Villanova University sophomore Becca Mitchell competed in the 41st Golden West Invitational two years ago. After learning about the meet from her mother, Sheila Mitchell, Vikings senior Dan Huling ran in the 43rd edition June 8 in Sacramento, Calif.
Huling submitted the time which placed him as the Class AA 1,600 runner-up in May. Converted from 1,600 meters to a mile, the 4:13.28 earned an invitation to be part of the 13-runner field. "It was an honor," Huling said. "It was all right. Going into the meet, I kind of didn't know what to expect. I kind of peaked for state and I didn't have a coach the (next) two weeks."...
