Families bring pets along for DARE fun.(News)

Byline: Barbara stryk Daily Herald Staff Writer Addison families walked, ran and rolled into Community Park Saturday for a fun day without drugs or alcohol. The Addison Police Department and park district sponsored the DARE Fun Run, Pet Parade and Bike Safety Rally. Sgt. Karen Miller, crime prevention supervisor, said the department started the program to give families an opportunity to do things together in a safe, drug-free environment.
Geri Estvanik, recreation supervisor with the park district, said the event demonstrates the spirit of the Drug Abuses Resistance Education program fifth-graders go through. "It's a fun day to celebrate the DARE concept," Estvanik said. Eleven dogs and a quail in a cage carried by a wagon paraded around the park....
