Officials received word recently they have been awarded two more grants to help fund improvements the village otherwise may not have been able to do.
A $107,000 gift from Kane County's riverboat fund will pay for the remainder of a project to install streetlights in the village's Old Town area. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs already has committed $75,000 to the effort. "That whole project will be covered," said Gilberts Village Administrator Cheryal Callahan.
