Mawhorr Spending on technology across corporate America might see a spike early next year as companies struggle to adhere to stricter financial reporting rules and shorter deadlines, according to CIO Insight Magazine, a trade publication for information officers. The magazine estimates as many as half of the information systems in the nation's companies aren't equipped to handle the new reporting requirements.
Abiding by the new rules could be the single biggest spending impetus in the first quarter next year, according to Gary Riske, a partner in KPMG's risk practice.
