Byline: Amy Williams Daily Herald Staff Writer The McHenry County Board agreed Tuesday to lower the speed limit along a portion of Randall Road after officials in both Algonquin and Lake in the Hills said the reduction was necessary to protect motorists. Last year, leaders in both communities requested the county conduct a study along Randall to see if the 55 mph speed limit in most locations - 50 mph in the heavy retail corridor - was too high.
Police chiefs in Algonquin and Lake in the Hills said they believe the lower speed limits along the four-lane roadway, which carries approximately 50,000 cars a day, would likely help reduce the number of accidents.
