That ranking comes from Chicago magazine, which rated the suburb tops according to education, recreation, crime and transportation in its latest edition. Elk Grove Village topped 38 other suburbs in its group, which the magazine based on home sales.
Elk Grove Village was grouped with others whose home sales averaged $194,000 to $249,000. Mayor Craig Johnson touted the ranking Tuesday night at the village board meeting, saying it only confirms what the community has long known.
