A Hoffman Estates fire pumper - a vehicle used to draw water to fight fires - may be turned into a toy sometime this year. Makers of fire engine die-cast collectibles, design and release new models each year by re-creating real-life fire engines, fire chief's cars, ambulances and other vehicles.

Models from across the United States have been produced including some from Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, Rosemont, Willow Springs and Chicago fire departments. Hoffman Estates Capt. Ron Antor said his fire department has been communicating with one collectibles maker, Code 3, for several months about producing one of the department's vehicles in the near future.
