- Amanda Kremaku, of Libertyville, is among recipients of the Northern Illinois University Outstanding Woman Award of 2003. In a ceremony held in DeKalb in April, each award winner was presented with a certificate, as well as a red rose symbolizing Recognition of Outstanding Students with Exceptional Strengths.

- Sarah Syverson, has been named a dean's scholar at Bradley University in Peoria. She is currently a senior at Lake Zurich High School. Scholarship selection is based on grade-point average, high school rank, ACT or SAT scores, leadership and community service.
