Byline: Eric Krol Daily Herald Political Writer North Shore businessman Andrew McKenna Jr. joined the race for next year's Republican U.S. Senate nomination Thursday by calling for tax breaks on education costs, retirement savings and businesses that invest in technology. "I'm going to be the jobs senator," said McKenna, joined by his wife and four children at a West Side manufacturing plant in Chicago to kick off his campaign.

McKenna, a 46-year-old from Glenview, is president of Schwarz Paper Co. in Morton Grove and has spearheaded civic efforts to expand O'Hare International Airport.
