- Steve Ballard, son of Gerry and Jill Ballard of West Dundee, recently received the Kimberly Clark Scholarship from the department of mechanical and industrial engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Ballard, who will receive a mechanical engineering degree in May 2005, was recognized for outstanding academic work and overall scholarship.

He is a 2001 graduate of Harry D. Jacobs High School. - Ginny Bench-Fortney, daughter of Jim and Ginny Bench of Crystal Lake, received her master of education degree from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais during the school's 90th annual commencement May 10. Her major field of study was curriculum and instruction. Bench-Fortney is teaching middle level learning disabled students in Fox River...
