Humberto "Bert" Hernandez of Woodstock A memorial service for Mr. Humberto "Bert" Hernandez, 56, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin-Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. Born Sept. 17, 1946, the son of Fortino and Consepcion (nee Amaro) Hernandez, he died Sunday, Sept.
14, 2003, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Burial with full military honors will be in Oakland Cemetery following the service. Mr. Hernandez retired from the Army after serving our country for 20 years, attaining the rank of master sergeant and becoming highly decorated. He served two tours each in Korea and Germany, and also spent time in Vietnam. While in Germany, he commanded an entire division, having some 600 troops underneath him. He...
