Byline: Bob Frisk It didn't take long for area stars to start shining in the 2003 college soccer season. Freshmen already are making major contributions on Notre Dame's No. 2-ranked women's team (6-0-0), and a main player has been Jen Buczkowski from Elk Grove. The freshman midfielder had 2 goals and 3 assists to win offensive MVP honors in the Notre Dame Classic, and she then was named Big East women's soccer rookie of the week.

"Buczkowski has really made a difference," said Irish coach Randy Waldrum. "She may have been one of those missing links. She's so good in that spot that we play her. She has come in and played like a veteran." Buczkowski is currently one of the top players on the U.S. Under-19 National Team, and she was rated by Soccer...
