Byline: Jake Griffin Daily Herald Staff Writer Ivan Jacobs' morning began with the same powerful headache he has endured ever since his skull was rebuilt. But after a trip to one hospital to treat the pain, he visited another for completely different reasons. Permanently disabled after being struck by a car on his bicycle five years ago, the Wheaton 17-year-old donated hundreds of handmade journals to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood on Wednesday.
"My philosophy is to try when I can't try, to walk when I can't stand and to talk when I can't speak," he said. The journal donation was one of the final measures in Jacobs' quest to become an Eagle Scout, the highest distinction in Scouting. "I just feel great being able to do this for you...
