Byline: Amy McLaughlin Daily Herald Staff Writer Former Des Plaines economic development director William J. Schneider Jr. will get about $43,000 from the city in a deal that calls for his resignation. The separation agreement, made official by the city council Monday night, puts an end to weeks of hand-wringing by city officials after they learned Schneider pleaded guilty a decade ago to trying to steal money from the Chicago real estate firm owned by the man who wants to build a casino in Des Plaines.
