Byline: Mike Miazga Daily Herald Correspondent Former St. Edward running standout Shawn Lucas had plenty of motivation heading into the 2004 men's track and field season. Lucas, who toils for Loyola University Chicago, had a tough cross country campaign that ended with him not being selected for the Ramblers' regional roster.
Since then, Lucas has been on a mission to turn things around. Lucas recently ran the 11th fastest 1,500 meter time in Loyola history, but narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAA regionals. He clocked a 3:50.94 at the meet held at North Central College. He checked in at the 800 mark at 2:02 and was at 3:04 through 1,200 meters. Regional qualifying time was 3:48.24.
