IKEA to add suburban site Bolingbrook store could help alleviate gridlock at Schaumburg store.(Business)

Byline: Amy Boerema Daily Herald Staff Writer Home furnishings retail giant IKEA will open a second Chicago- area store in Bolingbrook, officials announced Tuesday. The two-level 310,000-square-foot store will be located on a 21- acre site at I-355 and Boughton Road. IKEA officials hope to attract new customers from the southern suburbs and relieve some of the heavy customer base at the Schaumburg location, company spokesman Joseph Roth said.
Schaumburg IKEA opened in 1998 and is one of the top performing stores of its kind in the world, he said. Construction on the Bolingbrook store could begin this fall, with it opening in fall 2005.
