Disagreement is part of a healthy America I am glad to see responses to the writings of Elsie B. Zelms. I am having a hard time finding the logic behind her assumption that any dissention on our part causes more bloodshed and danger to our troops. I do not hold protesters responsible for the our failure in Vietnam.

I don't remember any dissention prior to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. It may be safer to assume that when Iraqis or any other repressed people see American pickets or news coverage with outrage toward unnecessary abuse of any kind, they may say, "I wish we would have enjoyed such freedom of speech" rather than, "Look, America loathes their own people; let's go grab a bomb."
