- The following local students received degrees from Bradley University during the Mid-year Commencement ceremony May 15: Jason Ursprung, Margaret Melnik and Ryan Ladden, of Vernon Hills and Gregory Laystrom of Libertyville. - Gregory Gilpin of Mundelein and Katherine Notargiovanni of Libertyville received degrees with honors from Bradley University in Peoria during the Commencement ceremonies on May 15.

- Twenty Southern Illinois University Carbondale students will receive a total of $28,559 in research awards, the largest sum ever granted in the University's annual Undergraduate Research/Creative Activity Awards competition.
