Byline: Marty Maciaszek Daily Herald Sports Writer Drew Janes got the last laugh on his parents. When Janes entered Barrington High School he told them he wanted to attend an Ivy League university. "They always laughed," Janes joked in reference to his high aspirations. "Football panned out and it definitely opened quite a few doors." It paved the way for Janes, a Daily Herald All-Area pick and Mid-Suburban West defensive player of the year, to head to Brown University in Providence, R.I.
Janes visited Brown on Dec. 10 and made his choice the day after Christmas over Cornell. He also had offers from Air Force, Western Michigan and Eastern Illinois. "At the very beginning of the process I knew I wanted to get to a great academic school," said Janes,...
