Byline: Patrick Waldron Daily Herald Staff Writer In his race to become the next village president, Mark Guethle calls himself an outsider going up against the old guard inside North Aurora village hall. It's a label Guethle carries with pride in his campaign against opponent John Hansen.

"They know I am the new guard and the future," Guethle said. "They are the old guard." Hansen dismisses the old versus new semantics, instead defending himself as a candidate who delivers on promises while describing Guethle as a partisan who takes more credit than he deserves.
