Expect delays along Route 31.(News)

Byline: Lisa Balde Daily Herald Staff Writer Commuters might notice a traffic delay the next couple of weeks along Route 31, near the border of Algonquin and Carpentersville. One of the road's two lanes will be closed for two weeks as Illinois Department of Transportation crews update a drainage ditch that runs alongside the road.
The $30,000 project was scheduled to maintain the aging ditch, IDOT spokesman Mike Claffey said Tuesday. Two guardrail posts will be reattached along the roadside, and a concrete channel will be added to the west side of the road. Work began Monday. Temporary traffic signals have been set up to direct traffic through the bottleneck, but delays are expected until the work is done.
