Byline: Bob Frisk There may not be any official category for this baseball statistic, but Carmel High School belongs somewhere in the Big Ten record book. Three Carmel graduates already have received Big Ten Player of the Week recognition in 2005 - catcher Pat McMahon and pitcher Ryan Myers of Northwestern and catcher/first baseman Sean Walker of Michigan State.
I wonder how many high schools anywhere in the country can equal that record this season in college baseball? And the schedule is a long way from that final at-bat. McMahon, who is hitting .416 for 32 games, is having a big year after sitting out 2004 recovering from surgery. He has 52 hits with 11 doubles and 4 home runs.
