Byline: David Oberhelman In the 2001-02 basketball season Neuqua Valley point guards present and future, John Pugliese and Jay Bergamini, occasionally went head to head in scrimmages. That dynamic duo - the Wildcats' Nos. 1 and 3 career assists leaders - will be reunited at the University of Wisconsin- Platteville, where Pugliese is a student assistant and Bergamini a recruit.

"I think he's a great kid, and I think he'll do great in college. He reminds me a lot of me," Pugliese said. Pugliese's fortunes have improved after a rocky road. A starter at Lake Forest College as a freshman, he transferred to Platteville but spent his sophomore season as a medical redshirt after a weight-lifting injury to his shoulder.
