Byline: Lisa Smith Daily Herald Staff Writer DNA testing led to an arrest Tuesday, three years after a St. Charles car burglary. Anthony Gomez, 33, of 114 Harrison Ave., Aurora, was charged with one count of burglary to a motor vehicle in connection with a 2002 break-in that took place in the Charlestowne Mall parking lot, according to a police news release.

While removing the cylinder lock in the door of a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier during a Nov. 15, 2002, burglary, Gomez cut himself and left traces of blood inside the car, police said. He ran off with the car stereo and speakers, 15 CDs and a fire extinguisher. But a St. Charles police evidence technician sent the blood sample to the Illinois State Crime Laboratory for analysis.
