The record club company will pay a $300,000 fine to settle a U.S.
Federal Trade Commission lawsuit alleging it violated the federal no-call telemarketing edict. In a suit filed and settled Thursday, the FTC alleged Columbia House violated the edict "tens of thousands" of times in 2003 and 2004 by calling former club members whose memberships had ended more than 18 months earlier.
