Byline: Mike Spellman Daily Herald Sports Writer Almost as soon as it began, the Matt Lawton era with the Cubs came to an end. Acquired on July 31 from Pittsburgh in exchange for Jody Gerut, the 33-year-old left fielder was traded Friday night to the New York Yankees for minor-league pitcher Justin Berg.
