President, Congress must defend borders In a tough and blunt speech to a group of Republican college students, Newt Gingrich identified a major flaw in the president's plan to defeat global terrorism. He said that unless U.S. border and shore security is significantly improved and the problem of an estimated 11.5 million illegal immigrants is addressed, it will be impossible to win the global struggle against terrorism.

That is something the president and the Congress seem reluctant or afraid to do. Gingrich's speech was a little surprising because most political figures try to avoid the issue of illegal immigrants.
