Stingrays swim team dives in to raise cash for Red Cross.(Neighbor)(Neighbor sports)

Byline: Ron Skrabacz Many DuPage County swimmers were among the more than 50 participants in Sunday's Swim for New Orleans fund-raiser. The all-day event, sponsored by the Stingrays of the Elk Grove Swim Club with the Elk Grove Park District, raised nearly $6,300 for the Red Cross Disaster Fund.
Stingrays Coach Joey Endler has been coaching the team since May, and his swimmers had a special reason for wanting to raise the money. "They knew I was from New Orleans, and then they found out my parents are still there," Endler said. That set the wheels in motion as the kids began inquiring what they could do to help.
