Byline: Kevin Schmit Daily Herald Sports Writer Chris Pack noticed a significant strengthening of his pitching arm this summer. Colleges noticed, too. Reaping the benefits of an off-season of hard work, the Benet senior pitcher and shortstop on Monday made a verbal commitment to play baseball at Villanova University in Pennsylvania.
Pack also weighed scholarship offers from Iowa, Creighton and Illinois State before picking Villanova. "I don't know if there was something there that the other schools didn't have, it was just that I felt best at Villanova," he said. "It's great academically, it's a great program.
