The five-acre lake at Morton Arboretum recently underwent a restoration to stabilize its shoreline and improve water quality. The project appears to be a success. The Lisle museum was honored Tuesday with a Conservation and Native Landscaping Award by the U.S.

Environmental Protection Agency and Chicago Wilderness. About 15 local groups received the award that recognizes outstanding efforts to use native plants. Villa Park was noted for a police facility that features a green roof and permeable parking lot paving.
