Scouts' service project benefits injured veteran.(Neighbor)(Inside DuPage County)

With 70 members, Cub Scout Pack 52 at Abraham Lincoln School in Glen Ellyn raised $1,200 with its garage sale service project for 2005. The 6- to 10-year-old Scouts sold a lot of bikes and exercise equipment that day. Cub Master Kevin Fry said the Scouts celebrated their success on Veterans Day by learning about the nation's flag, Pledge of Allegiance and "Star Spangled Banner," as well as donating half the proceeds to their special guest, Joel Gomez.
"The kids were thrilled to have a local boy who had been a veteran attend the event," Fry said. "We didn't know he was a Scout, so it was a pleasant surprise as part of the evening."
