Byline: Gene Haschak Daily Herald Staff Writer Two reputed street gang members charged with shooting at a rival during a high-speed chase through residential Elgin streets Friday - and putting bullets through the windows of two passing cars - were hit with stiff bonds and a stern reprimand Saturday from a Kane County judge.
Judge Robert Janes accused the two of turning the city into a "Wild West" town where people are shot on the streets. Marcos J. Peralta, 22, of 774 Schuler St. and Victor M. Gomez, 1150 Cedar Ave., both in Elgin, were each charged with two counts of armed violence and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Peralta's bond was set at $500,000, and Gomez's at $750,000. They would need to post 10 percent to be released. If...
