Byline: Harry Hitzeman Daily Herald Staff Writer Last Oct. 10, Sara Brown was heading home along Fabyan Parkway in West Chicago after dinner with her boyfriend. "The only thing I remember is seeing a flash of red cover my entire windshield and, the next thing I knew, I was off in a ditch," the 25-year-old Batavia woman described at a DuPage County coroner's inquest Thursday.
The flash was Matthew A. Lane's red 1995 Ferrari Berlinetta. The 27-year-old Wheaton man had crossed into the oncoming lane and slammed into a 1991 Toyota Corolla. The crash killed not only Lane but the sedan's occupants, 23-year-old Nicole M. Westerhoff of North Aurora and her 4-year-old son Devin.
