Luckily, Northwest Suburban High School District 214 has you covered on both counts. The system's annual Prom Dress Exchange - an event that lets you switch a (gently worn) old gown for a new one at no cost - is set for March 4 in the Elk Grove High choir room, 500 W.
Elk Grove Blvd. The scoop: Girls can bring in their used gowns - cleaned and on a hanger, please - between 6 and 8 p.m. March 3. They'll get a ticket allowing them to return from 9 to 11 a.m. March 4 for first pickings of the used dresses. Girls who don't donate can show up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 4 to buy a gown for $25.
