John Raymond Barcus formerly of St. Charles A graveside funeral service for John Raymond Barcus, 84, of Osceola, Iowa, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at North Cemetery, St. Charles. Born May 5, 1921, in St. Charles, the son of Raymond and Marjorie (nee McMasters) Barcus, he died Saturday, Feb.
18, 2006, at the Hines VA Hospital, Maywood, Ill. He grew up in St. Charles, and at the age of 15 learned of fly at the DuPage Airport. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and later serving in the Army Air Corps. He received many ribbons and metals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart.
