According to the San Jose Mercury News, the Sharks are leading a behind-the-scenes campaign to get former Blackhawks great Doug Wilson nominated for the Hockey Hall of Fame. Wilson, now the Sharks' general manager, played 16 seasons in the NHL, 14 with the Hawks. He was one of the finest defensemen of his era, particularly offensively.

Wilson scored 39 goals in 1981-82, which stands as a Hawks record for a defenseman. The only two defensemen who scored more goals in one season are Bobby Orr and Paul Coffey. The Mercury News story said that from 1979 to 1991, the only two defensemen who had more points and a better per-game scoring average than Wilson were Coffey and Ray Bourque.
