Byline: Jon Greenberg Daily Herald Correspondent C.J. Bacher looked like a starting quarterback Saturday afternoon at Northwestern's spring game. Then again, so did Andrew Brewer, and Mike Kafka didn't look half-bad himself. All three shared the snaps as the Wildcats held a public audition at Ryan Field for Brett Basanez's replacement.
But no one knows who will start in the season opener, Aug. 31 against Miami (Ohio). "I thought it was a great laboratory for our young quarterbacks," said Wildcats coach Randy Walker, speaking of the spring in general. "We put them in a lot of different situations. And they all did well. At times they did very well. But at times, they didn't do as well as you would like. "It's going to be a big summer for those three...
