Remotely interesting: WLS Channel 7 remained in first in the marquee late news race for May sweeps with a 9.8 local rating for weeknights, meaning about 340,000 Chicago-area households tuning in, or a 16 percent share of the viewing audience. WMAQ Channel 5 posted a 7.0/12, but claimed victory in the male age demographics.

WBBM Channel 2 did a 5.3/9, but was the only late newscast to gain viewers from last year. Fueled by Dr. Phil McGraw at 4, Channel 2's 5 p.m. news moved into second behind Channel 7, and the "CBS Evening News" with Bob Schieffer actually beat NBC and Brian Williams locally on Channel 5.
