Byline: Kim Mikus Daily Herald Business Writer There are enough books - but not enough volunteers - for a sale that's been running for 47 years. The Brandeis Used Book Sale, which has taken place each summer since 1958, will conclude after its final sale that begins on Saturday. Many shoppers and organizers are upset to see the sale come to an end in the parking lot at Westfield Old Orchard in Skokie.
"There aren't enough hands to do all the work," said Nancy Levi, who has helped organize the sale for the past 13 years on a full- time basis and another 12 years part time. She said the organization is 99 percent volunteers. The number of helpers has dropped from 45 to 20 for the more recent sales. "We're very unhappy that this is going to end," Levi...
