Byline: Eric Peterson Daily Herald Staff Writer Life has gotten a little quieter and easier in recent days for Schaumburg native Joe Ashur Jr., visiting his relatives in Beirut this summer. The question is, for how long? The nightly bombings have moved farther away from his extended family's neighborhood in the last few days, mostly because of the recent visit of Condoleeza Rice and the ongoing evacuation of Americans.
The 24-year-old Conant High School graduate and DePaul University business major has decided to remain with his family rather than join his fellow countrymen in fleeing the war-torn nation.
