Lake Villa golf teacher says destiny led him to sport.(Neighbor)

Byline: Elena Ferrarin Daily Herald Staff Writer Mike Perez believes golf was his destiny. It was 1969, and a fellow foreman at the now-closed Zenith Electronics plant in Melrose Park invited him to a golf outing and banquet at Nordic Hills Resort, now called Doral Eaglewood Conference Resort, in Itasca.
"I will never forget - I shot a 120 the first time I played," the Lake Villa resident said. "For the first time, it was great. There are a lot of players that shoot a 120," he said. Later that night, he won a set of golf clubs at the banquet's raffle. Before he knew it, he had fallen in love with the sport.
