Dennis P. Maher of Elgin A memorial Mass for Dennis P. Maher, 75, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. Rev. Geoffrey Wirth will be officiating. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Born Jan.

27, 1931, in Melrose, Kan., to Daniel and Ruth Maher, he passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006, at his home. Dennis graduated from Bradley University. He was a Veteran and served in the U.S. Army. He had owned and operated Valley Engineering in Elgin for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Elgin.
