What motivates these legislators? Senate Majority Leader Bill First, R-Tenn., and Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., along with other Republican Congressional leaders, have united behind legislation that would legalize the warrantless wiretap program of President George W. Bush. Members of the Congress of the United States of America were elected to defend our Constitution and to protect us from all threats, including the president, if necessary.

Those who support his egregious activities have betrayed the trust placed in them by the American people. These senators and representatives do not deserve to serve in Congress. I wonder about the motivation of those congressmen who believe that Americans should be spied upon at the whim of the...
