Byline: Lee Filas Daily Herald Staff Writer A Grayslake woman rode an Amtrak train with her father for more than 15 hours Monday without reporting to authorities the man had died, Chicago police said. Daniel Stepanovich, 80, of Hammond, Ind., was traveling from California when he died in Colorado at 12:05 a.m.
Monday. But the death was not reported to train officials by the daughter until the train pulled into Union Station in Chicago after 5 p.m., Chicago police spokeswoman JoAnn Taylor said.
