- Army Sgt. Maj. James D. Heffernan, son of James J. Heffernan of Prospect Heights, is a member of the U.S. Army Field Band, the official Army's touring musical organization, headquartered at Fort George G. Meade, Md. Heffernan will be touring the United States for its 2006 summer concert performances.
The organizational component members on tour include the Concert Band, Soldiers' Chorus, Jazz Ambassadors, and Volunteers. The Concert Band and Soldiers' Chorus tour together, the Jazz Ambassadors and the Volunteers tour separately. The Army Field Band conducts three annual national tours and occasionally overseas.
