Grainger posts gain, raises yearly forecast LAKE FOREST - W.W. Grainger Inc. Monday posted a 19 percent gain in third-quarter profit to $104.5 million, or $1.16 a share, from $88.1 million, or 97 cents a share, in the same quarter in 2005. Grainger, which provides building maintenance and repair products, also announced a stock repurchase plan of up to $10 million shares; it closed a 2.6 million-share buyback plan in the quarter.

That, along with a tax benefit, caused Grainger to raise its full-year guidance from $4.10 to $4.25 a share, up from $4 to $4.15. Revenue rose 6 percent to $1.5 billion.
